Great news! We inaugurated our first well on 3 August – and have already started on our second.
Water is in short supply in Madagascar and many families are forced to use water from the river, although they know it isn’t clean – so a clean water supply makes a huge difference. Thanks to our supporters in Europe and hard work from Severino and the team in Madagascar, we opened a drinking water well on 3 August in Ambalafary, one of the poorest districts of Ilakaka.
At 20 metres deep, the well has a clean water depth of 1.2 metres. It is in use from sunrise to sunset, giving 60 local families access to free, clean life-supporting water.
Second well started
After talking to the Mayor of Ilakaka, we have started talking with local schools to find out how we can help improve eduction for the local children. As a starting point, we’ve begun building a well in the public primary school. The well will be used by school children during the day, as well as families in the local area.
