Our goal is to empower the people of Ilakaka to benefit from their own natural resources. But they need to eat first.
For various reasons, food is in short supply in Ilakaka and many parents are struggling to provide for themselves and their children. Since we began, we have distributed rice – an important staple food in Ilakaka – each Friday at the local church in one of the poorest areas of the community.
We have spoken to the local Village Chief, who knows the individual families well, and he out rice to the families that need it most.
In total, we have given out around 4 tonnes of rice. At the last count in July 2024, around 230 families came to collect rice, an important staple food in Madagascar.
